The EBS Group and Oracle Secure Enterprise Search Made Searching Archived Contracts Easy for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Saving Them Time and Improving Accuracy.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (Teamsters), with close to one and a half million members, is one of the world's largest labor unions. One out of every ten union members is a Teamster, representing a diverse labor base from airline pilots and zoo keepers to freight workers. The organization is structured in a way that promotes local unionization and assists keeping union money local.

Challenges

Solutions

1.	For close to 30 years, the Economics and Contracts Department has obtained collective bargaining agreements, with the average agreement length of 30 pages.
2.	There are approximately 27,000 current contracts and 250,000 archived contracts which have gone through the current manual process of scanning the documents and indexing them in an Access Database.
3.	Querying and searching these documents require the cumbersome process of performing an initial query of the Access Database and brining up the scanned PDF document to perform word searches.
4.	The process and system was not user friendly and did not provide the ability to search across many different contracts/documents at the same time. It was time consuming, as well as difficult to learn.

1.	Leveraged Oracle Collaboration Suite, Content Services, Oracle Database, and Oracle Portal to create a secure scalable content management infrastructure.
2.	The EBS Group developed a Turn-Key solution to assist the Teamsters in the conversion of all current contracts and agreements into a text-searchable format and upload them into a secure database.

Using Secure Enterprise Search, The EBS Group created a user friendly web-based interface, with drop-down lists and guided questions, to search all contracts, delivering a Google-like search experience, with fast and relevant search results.
